Started a driver for Nichibutsu’s ‘High Rate DVD’ HW, the direct HW follow-up from Niyanpai HW. I/Os and bitmap video are mostly taken care of, this HW uses the V9958 MSX-2 VDP, and yes it’s quite shocking to know that a 200*-era HW uses an “outdated” video chip.
Game name is Cosplay Heaven 5, and, needless to say, DVD parts are still missing from this. :)
DOSBox SVN r3643 is released. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, etc., necessary for running many old MS-DOS games that simply cannot be run on modern PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and FreeBSD. However, it is not restricted to running only games. In theory, any MS-DOS or PC-DOS (referred to commonly as "DOS") application should run in DOSBox, but the emphasis has been on getting DOS games to run smoothly, which means that communication, networking and printer support are still in early development.
MESS SVN r9227 is released. MESS(Multi Emulator Super System) is an open source emulator which emulates a large variety of different systems. MESS is a source-available project which documents the hardware for a wide variety of (mostly vintage) computers, video game consoles, and calculators through software emulation, as MAME does for arcade games. As a nice side effect to this documentation, MESS allows software and games for these hardware platforms to be run on modern PCs.
