The emulator has been in development since early 2011 and currently supports modern DirectX 12, Vulkan and OpenGL renderers. The concept behind FCEUX is to merge elements from FCE Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, and FCEU-mm into a single branch of FCEU.
