EmuCR:bsnes Emulatorsbsnes v087 is released. bsnes is an emulator for the Super Famicom and SNES video game systems. The purpose of the emulator is a bit different from other emulators: it focuses on accuracy, debugging functionality, and clean code.

bsnes v087 Changelog:

- emulated the 21.47MHz ST018 (ARMv3) coprocessor used by Hayazashi Nidan Morita Shougi 2
- fixed PPU TM/TS edge case; fixes bottom scanline of text boxes in Moryo Senki Madara 2
- fixed saving and loading of Super Game Boy save RAM
- NEC uPD7725,96050 ROMs now stored in little-endian format for consistency
- cartridge folder concept has been reworked to use fixed file names
- added emulation of serial USART interface (replaces asynchronous UART support previously)

The program is 100% assembler code. Accuracy should be quite high (if not: bug are reports welcome).
Requirements: Win95 and up, around 8MB RAM, around 200MHz
(on 1GHz computers, most games can run 5-10 times faster as on real hardware).

  7. This is becoming somewhat of a trend for byuu cult members - they are uninformed and just repeat 'Cycle accuracy', 'accuracy' to anybody like a demented Jehova's Witness.

  8. I'll stop trash talking byuu and his shitty unoptimised SNES emu if you stop trash-talking 'innaccurate' emulators (and honestly brah, as if you're even able to notice the 'accuracy' - idiot - you're a typical idiotic enduser that has noticed his guru uttering a new buzzword - cycle-accuracy) and has ran with it without even understanding why it matters and why he/she should care if he/she is not even able to determine what it is.

I can tell you right now - an idiotic end-user like you NOTICES ZERO from the 'cycle accuracy' your cultish leader provides to you in the form of bSNES. You might as well play with SNES9x for your gaming needs since you're not likely to be able to notice any differences to begin with.

Cycle-accuracy matters to people coding SNES homebrew (not very many), ROM hackers and the like - not some idiotic end-user that wants to shout 'STFU you byuu hater' at emucr.

  9. byuu droped far east of eden zero but this guy is wornking on it!
    http://www.au-ro-ra.net/index.php?page=feoeztrans&lang=en
I have been playing around with Far East of Eden Zero on and off for a few years now. After byuu had dropped the game, I thought about translating this game myself as I wanted it to receive a quality translation. Then, a few months ago, I documented my results so far and started working on it seriously. My philosophy is: After translation, the game should still be playable on the real hardware (that means e.g. no fancy ROM expanding), but nevertheless as few compromises as possible should be made. We will see how this will work out; I think if there are compromises to be made, it will be with the script size.

  10. Im sure you are fapping to your great bsnes great exclusives such as:
2 shogi games, top gear 3000 (sega cd is 100% better),the crappy gundam strategy SD game, weapons lord (the fire effect title screen) and oh wow van dammes time cop.
in the mean time i will enjoy every other fucking game in existance at full speed in my android, and i can guarantee i will not notice any difference even if they program at HLE

    ReplyDelete
  11. So no, I don't give a crap about bSNES - and why should I? You can't even tell me what it does all that more 'accurately' that I can notice is not there in SNES9x. You talk to me about accuracy all day, but I bet you can't even point me to a single difference between the two running the same mainstream games in most cases (oh - it runs Sink and Swim and some shit Speedy Gonzalez game that nobody plays at the last level - I should give a shit now?)

  12. 'Fuck energy-efficient computing' - bubba, the point is that bSNES will run like crap on anything other than Intel x86 PCs - which are NOT the future of computing unless you consider the future of computing to revolve around some furry, shota-loving anime nerds like the ones on board.byuu.org. The future is tablets, handhelds, phones, consoles and things like the Raspberry Pi - and bSNES runs like shit on all of those and the above.

  14. byuu emu started in 2006 here byuu claim it is not that old
Like I've said and is apparent from this thread, there's a lot of really major problems right now.
Not at all surprising since it's so new, they'll get fixed. bsnes v001 was a whole hell of a lot worse (but I also released it after a week of work, this started in '06.)

  15. @6 TRY TO PLAY BS-X GAMES ON BSNES AND SEE WHAT HAPPENDS

    Another random tidbit about how no$sns operates with Satellaview emulation compared with others;

I also fiddled with Soundlink ROM booting in no$sns some more
interesting thing; nocash got most the games to kick you back in BS-X, even the ones that normally crash on other emulators.
Like for example, in BS Fire Emblem Palace Kanryaku at :48 you just go poof! back into BS-X
No CG art like the broadcast, but no crashing either.
Likewise, BS Zelda Dai-3-wa will pop you back into BS-X after the fadeout - no score tally, but no crash either.
    It's kinda strange.

  36. You guys are a bunch of hypocrites!
Im sure as much as you care for accuracy, you download and play pscx2,dolphin,demul and a bunch of other emus, that are based on speed hacks, workarounds and HLE,and im not seeing any of you defend the accuracy! in any of those emus
only post problems, thrash talking about pcsx2 developers team, goran h. and of course byuu superior coding skills in every pscx2 thread, people like you with double moral make me sick!

    ReplyDelete
  37. 49-in those emulators cycle accuracy is not possible, well it is if we had 100 core processors,BUT it IS possible with Snes,so why not use it?

@ 46,47 same person.cause it is so much fun to play nes on a ipad,or iphone.no controllers, just lovely touchscreen, have fun playing any 2 player games not to mention the AWESOME 7 inch screens.

Emulation is meant to be played at home, with friends,in a nice warm\cool house, preferably on a home made cabinet. Not on the bus,in the car or while im walking around town.I will use my 3DS,PSP or PS Vita for that thank you.

  38. @50 Wow double stardard hypocrite!
and im sure you know thats theres emus for alot of retro systems in handhelds and phones ,and i too want to play some retro old school gaming portable,im sure you are ok carring your desktop pc everywhere you go, but for me, one smartphone with ps1 and snes games, satisfy my needs,
    thanks for participating!

  39. Some people, or someone, on an ipad 3 thread started saying that mobile games are bad, because there is free stuff out there and a lot of weird arguments.

Why is there a hate toward mobile games in general from some people?

My guess is it comes from people who actually AREN'T gamers, usually console players. People that think real games have "immersion", "story", "cinematics", "3d world to explore".

Games are about gameplay. Let me make two points here:

    1) If you think playing tetris or chess on any electronic device is casual or not for real gamers, you are in fact not a gamer. Games are about GAMEPLAY first, graphics/content/story everything else later. The only thing that really matters to make it a game is gameplay.

    2) Not only some mobile games are really good, indie devs, including you know, you, have a chance of making money and start up, being able to make bigger titles if you wish so.

Sure there is a lot of casualized games that have little gameplay, but this is true for most of the console industry as well. Its a problem of these types of games.

In general, there is nothing wrong/bad about mobile games

    ReplyDelete
  40. *sigh* some people just do not get it.no one siad mobile games are bad.he said that EMULATED games, like old console games on smartphones, try playing 2 players on a ipad on a snes co-op game, you cannot do it.plus the controls suck.touchscreen controls BLOW,case closed.thanks for participating and being retarded :)

I really want to see you carring your desktop monstrous pc , to play some snes retro gaming, just for the 6 bsnes exclusives such as ,the shogi games, time cop,the fire effect in weapon lord, the horrendous desert srtike return to gulf, and the crappy sd gundam,in the mean time im enjoying all the snes hits portable via snes9x in my psp, smarthpone and ipad,I dont know if you undestand this but unless you play one of the 6 bsnes exclusives, you will notice zero difference playing all the snes library in snes9x,also byu's bsnes only work on monstruos desktop pc's it can be ported to any other devices outside the desktop market!
    thanks for participating!

    ReplyDelete
  43. @57 it cares because bsnes cant be ported outside monstrous desktop pcs, if you want to play oldschool gaming portable, you have to use snes9x or zsnes, wich is fucking sad really!

    ReplyDelete
  44. @55 is not and opinion,IS A FACT!
bsnes wont work on any other thing thats not a monstrous dektop pc, IT CANT BE PORTED TO ANY OTHER DEVICE! smartphone, tablet, laptop, desktop, you name it!,

  46. @58, I can run Bsnes just fine (Performance) on my four year old Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz. Not sure why you can't run it on your Pentium 233MHz with 64MB of RAM.

    ReplyDelete
  47. lol who needs to play snes while you arent @ home?
Yes I want to play games on a 7" screen instead of my 55" LED lol #59 you are silly. Thanks for making me and everyone laugh :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't really see any "byuu fanatics" or whatever around. I do believe that accuracy is important because the real consoles won't be around forever. The real console is as accurate as it can be, so I don't have to worry about bugs and glitches. I have a real Super Famicom that I play most games on. If there's a game I don't care enough about to buy, then I use Snes9x for casual gaming. That's it. Nobody is trying to force you into using bsnes. Most people who support bsnes don't really care that much about what you use.

The only thing that byuu has been complaining about is how a lot of developers develop homebrew, translations, hacks etc, that are tested on inaccurate emulators, resulting in software that is unusable on a real SNES/Super Famicom. It's really a shame to see all that talent wasted. Emulators are not supposed to emulate other emulators, and in most cases the bugs that may have made a game work will be fixed in later versions.

    Also, again, fuck energy-efficient computing.

    ReplyDelete
  49. About PCSX2: There is no other emulator that can even play a single PS2 game. Comparing PS2 emulation to SNES emulation is pretty ridiculous in this regard. Also, I got a modded PS2 because I wasn't satisfied with PCSX2's accuracy.

    ReplyDelete
  50. And no, I'm not bashing PCSX2 either. They're doing a good job, and I wish them all luck. It's just not enough for me.
