EmuCR: Project 64Project64 v2.0.0.4 is released for chosen testers. Project64 is a proprietary Nintendo 64 emulator for Windows. It employs a plug-in system that allows third-party software developers to create their own implementation of a specified component. Project64 allows the user to play Nintendo 64 games on a computer by reading ROM images, either dumped from the read-only memory of a Nintendo 64 cartridge or created directly on the computer as homebrew. Project64 started as an exercise by Jabo and zilmar in an attempt to see if they were capable of programming a Nintendo 64 emulator. If you want to test, you have to donate money to the developers.

Project64 Changelog:

Project64 v2.0.0.4:
- Rewrote handling of plugins
- Cleaned up code with starting/ending emulation
- More bug fixes with tlb recompiler writes

  1. At least it has "Closed Alpha" status now. That should (hopefully) avoid confusion. And to those who don't want to donate, you shouldn't feel compelled if you don't like its alpha/beta status. No one should force you to update, right?

  3. To maybe "calm the storm",If you can still find that accidental 1.7.0.50 b23 "release" (if ya don't already have it),for faster speed, use the oldest jabo gfx plugin (1.5.2) to see games like Banjo Tooie run at a full 60fps.

    Here is my settings.

    Video (graphics) plugin:
    Jabo's Direct3D6 1.5.2

    Audio (sound) plugin:
    Azimer's HLE Audio v0.56 WIP 2

    Input (controller) plugin:
    N-Rage's Direct-Input8 V2 2.1a

    Reality Signal Processor plugin:
    RSP Plugin 1.7.0.3

Both high level GFX and Audio checked.

Sorry,I am too lazy to tell you the plugin settings themselves.

    1. The problem with using that older plugin is that it can cause problems in other games. Perhaps just use this older plugin on very specific titles, but stick to the ones in the 1.7 archive because overall they're much better.

    2. Yes they are. I might also recommend Glide 64, it emulates the graphics very well (such as invisible Mario or the pixel dissolve effects). It emulates the Glide API with OpenGL.

  7. To all those hating on it, no one's forcing you to donate, and while the emulator is improving behind the scenes, there's nothing to compel you to want to use it over the 1.7 beta as of now.

  8. Donation is donation, you are not buying anything.
Project64 gave me hours of fun in past years.
