ASE v1.14 is released. Atari System Emulator or ASE is an Atari ST emulator that emulates the ST F/FM, the Mega ST and the STE. It is written in C# and utilizes the great Motorola 68000 Moira emulator created by Dr. Dirk Hoffmann.
ASE Git Changelog:
Atari System Emulator v1.14
I'm happy to announce the release of Atari System Emulator v1.14! This update introduces some major new features that take ASE to a whole new level! With a strong focus on online multiplayer gaming and significantly improving the overall user experience, this release brings exciting new ways to play, share, and enjoy your favorite Atari ST games!
One of the highlights of this release is the first preview of ASE's multiplayer capabilities. While there's still some work to be done and a few rough edges to smooth out, I'm excited to finally share these features with the community!
🚀 What's New
Online Multiplayer Gaming (Preview)
ASE now introduces several ways to play with other users over a local network or the Internet! You can share your gameplay online or simulate a connection using a MIDI cable or null modem cable, opening up exciting new possibilities for multiplayer gaming.
Please keep in mind that multiplayer support is still in a preview stage. Although the core functionality is already in place, there are still a few details to refine and some improvements to make before it's considered fully complete. Your feedback will be especially valuable as these features continue to evolve!
I'll soon be publishing a video on my YouTube channel explaining these new multiplayer features in detail. In the meantime, be sure to check out the Wiki for more information!
Input Recording & Playback
You can now record everything that happens during an Atari ST emulation session and play it back at any time!
This feature originally started as an experiment to test how online multiplayer would work, but it turned out to be so useful that I decided to keep it in the emulator! It's a great way to share your gameplay sessions or create interactive tutorials that other ASE users can play back on their own systems.
Time Warp – Rewind Time!
This has quickly become one of my favorite new features!
With Time Warp, you can instantly rewind your gameplay at any moment, simply by pressing a button on your gamepad or using a keyboard shortcut.
Made a mistake? Lost a life? Just rewind and try again! It's an incredibly useful feature, especially for those notoriously difficult Atari ST games!
🛠️ Improvements & Fixes
Alongside these major new features, version 1.14 also addresses several bugs that remained unresolved in version 1.13.
Since v1.13 was an intermediate release that didn't yet include some of the code developed for this new version, a few issues had to be left for later. These have now been addressed in v1.14, bringing further improvements to the emulator's overall functionality and stability.
