EmuCR:PS2 emulatorPCSX2 v0.9.8 (r4611) is released. PCSX2 0.9.8 is a branch of PCSX2. PCSX2 is an open source PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. With the most recent versions, many PS2 games are playable (although speed limitations have made play-to-completion tests for many games impractical), and several games are claimed to have full functionality.

  1. Honest question,

What is the difference between this and "normal" PCSX2? Is one better than the other?

  2. They are sometimes better, sometimes worse....these are just the incremental updates by the devs, its your choice or not to use them, as some of the changes they make will break games that used to work...

Best idea is to have 2 versions in different install locations, the Official release and a separate one for these regular updates, that way you can always go back to the older version if you find stuff no longer works...

Generally, i only update once a week, as some of the updates make only trivial changes that you will never notice.

  3. damn, it always slow, interface look the same with 0.9.7. is it really 0.9.8?, but good work,

  4. Devs have said before that the odd number releases (0.9.5 - 0.9.7) are betas and the even versions are the "finished" products of that betas (0.9.5 beta > 0.9.6 final) (0.9.7 beta > 0.9.8 final)

If it's slow then you better start thinking of upgrading your hardware, sine even low end CPUs and mirange graphic card can play it nicely nowadays.
