EmuCR:PS2 emulatorPCSX2 SVN r4806 is released. PCSX2 is an open source PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. With the most recent versions, many PS2 games are playable (although speed limitations have made play-to-completion tests for many games impractical), and several games are claimed to have full functionality.

PCSX2 SVN Changelog:
r4805
cmake:
* use the standard 3 step flow: cmake, make, make install
* Remove L10N_PORTABLE option, superseeded by PACKAGE_MODE
* Extend PACKAGE_MODE to select the install directory (FHS or local bin)
r4806
debian: align the package with latest cmake change.

  3. the more popular games most likely have more speed, like final fantasy x, dark clouds run decent if you mess with the speedhacks and have a good cpu, kingdom hearts 1 and 2 run perfect too the persona games run perfect, idk man try a bunch a games test them out. ide say 2/3's of the games that play on pcsx2 run at full speed or close enough.

  7. the emulator isn't for n00bs. if you want to play ps2 games on pc, it's trial and error, some will work and some wont. some will work but function VERY slowly. mess with the speedhacks. if it annoys you too much, buy a ps2 and a component cable [all problems solved]

No... Optimize it for ... ummm... Hexa-cores! Or maybe i7, i5? Very unlikely... at anytime soon. Do you have any idea how much work would it take for them to do that? I think not. It's NOT worth it. I got AMD 6000+ for 3 years now and I can run most games at full speed or at least playable speeds (50FPS+) with/without speedhacks. Yes... IF IT WAS optimized for quads you'd get a boost. BUT not that big one. What you outta do is overclock that one and enjoy. Concerning GPU, it's rarely of any major significance. Thumbs up for PCSX2 team, cause I now rarely ever have to even check if game is "playable". It always is. Most popular games (or those that I have, all run almost perfectly(being that I was able to finish them without serious trouble).

Concerning speed. It's great enough as it is. Get E8400 (cheap dualcore (4 or more years old) and OC it to 4GHz) and you're most likely ready to hit anything with 2/3x native and play it decently.

On the other hand, every new generation of CPUs will be faster, so ... idk. I'm so pissed at all these people whining. Accuracy matters the most to me. As I prefer it to be "demanding" and playable... Then fast and buggy or barely working. Fact is. 100-150$ phenom II (940 for example) can run it greatly. My buddy got it. He OC'd it to 4GHz on stock cooling and no problems. And if you're so pissed. Either get involved and try to fix it/optimize it, or buy a PS2 slim that is really cheap these days (100 bucks). Also.. stop posting stuff here. They have their official forum you know. And they are doing it for free. I'm eternally grateful. FF X/ XII, DMC series, Okami, Persona games, GOW 1/2, ICO, Shadow of Colossus, Dragon Quest VIII and many many other of popular games that work flawlessly and are prettier than on the original platform.

    Regards

    @ Goran. H

Oh dude,i gave up trying to talk sense into peoples heads here (been trying for months).Seems that mostly warez kiddos frequent in these corners, who only care about if game X or Y works at 2382356 fps without bugs, while annoying thinking people by posting "fix requests" HERE instead of the proper pcsx2 forums.I guess they really think, that EmuCR is doing all the coding work, while obviously they don't.Besides the gift of smelling warez through 50 websites on the internet, they seem to be blessed with supreme idiocy. Can't figure different reasons for posting so much wasted hot air here.Wish there would be moderators and some posting rules...AND an freaking posting FAQ,so people know what this place is up to.

I'm only stopping by to see if there is news on emulators now - I simply gave up trying to communicate intelligently with most commenters here.Simply not possible :P ...

    Some sort of regards

  10. Those whining about DOA2, stop it already.

If DOA2 matters so much why don`t you go ahead and play the freaking Dreamcast one? It not only runs better but looks a lot better too... emulated or not.

I share the thoughts... I've been enjoying the benefits of Emu scene for past 5 or so years and I can't believe how scene changed and progressed towards better(the quality and quantity). When I started 0.9.4 was active and I was able to play freakin' FF X. The games that still positions itself in Top 5 of several hundred games I completed through the course of years. I mean... These guys (emu devs relentless of platform) are just cementing PC place in ground as ultimate platform... PC already has more games than all the platform altogether (or close) not including indie games and MMO's... and indie/flash/mmo scene is HUGE. And now giving the opportunity to emulate every popular gaming platform except for (if I recall) Xbox's (they suck anyway IMO) and PS3. So... I can't play maybe few games that I really want (Dark Souls, GOW III, MGS 4, FFXIII, Uncharted and Heavy Rain). But I can play insane number of games. Graphics aren't everything. I'm currently playing FF II on PS... I mean PC and having a blast.

And yeah... A big FAQ button should be introduced on the main page and underneath comment box. And maybe requirement for logging concerning comments.

Concerning fighting with idiocy. Idk... I sometimes feel like typing (lol yeah).

    Regards

  12. All playbel games work on 30 fps with full speed emulation ~80-100% parformance (60 hz for ntsc or 50 for pal games). Developers know's, what about i'm tolking. I want too say - 60 fps with full speed emulation ~80-100% parformance (60 hz for ntsc or 50 for pal games) will be perfect!!! I think this is Emul -> GSdx nuance.
    P.S. sory my bad English.
