DOSBox-X Git (2026/07/25) is compiled. DOSBox-x is a branch of DOSBox. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, etc., necessary for running many old MS-DOS games that simply cannot be run on modern PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and FreeBSD.
DOSBox-X Changelog:
* FAT driver: Apply the same optimizations to the addDirectoryEntry, which should then help performance where copying a lot of files in the same directory is concerned (for example, Windows 2000 setup)
* FAT driver: appendCluster add missing cluster index vs number management, fix index cluster counting, add comments on what to do to improve this code
* FAT driver: Add support for cluster chain memory to appendCluster so that it is possible to append clusters as needed without re-re-re-re-reading the entire file allocation chain. Update file write to use it
* Remove FIXME for what is now a note
