EmuCR: MameUIHiScoreMicro64 v1.00.2012.06.25 Build 693 is released. Micro64 is a freeware commodore c64 emulator. Currently micro64 has two different VIC II emulation modes: cycle exact (default, works fine) and half-cycle exact (next-gen, rudimentary implementation – currently damn slow).

Micro64 v1.00.2012.06.25 Build 693 Changelog:
- Optimized the dynamic GLSL shader code generator of the new PAL & CRT
monitor emulation to be a bit more dynamic in the code generation for some
weaker but still highend graphics cards (for example for current Notebook
highend GPUs).

  1. Hey author, how about some instructions on how to use this PAL CRT emulation ?
I have looked through all the settings time and time again and I still cannot see any CRT emulation settings.

Would love to test this out.

  2. I am not the author, but try the following:
    F9 \ Options... \ Video... \ PAL emulation... = yes

This should turn the PAL emulation ON !!!

    1. I always have PAL on, this is why I am confused as to why I don't see any difference from previous builds.

This is why I am wondering if there is some other setting(s) that need to be "on" or set to s specific setting.

    2. ...because the changes are only internal - according to changelog optimization is made for "weaker but still highend graphics cards"...so, there is no visible difference ?!

    3. Ok, I have figured it out. Your settings are in your user folder here,
      AppData\Roaming\micro64
You will need to be able to see hidden folders to see it, WHY ARE THEY HERE AND NOT IN THE MAIN INSTALL FOLDER ? Author ?
Anyway, deleted them and started again. You need FULL GPU, under PAL Emulation settings. Before, I was getting a pure white screen, now it works. Loving the "Retrace", now you just need a screen reflection effect, sort of like a light shining on the crt screen.

    4. Watch the video on the official site, maybe you find something you missed.

    5. They are at AppData\Roaming\micro64 because micro64 tries to be compliant to the quasi-non-registry-usage-standard for multi user configuration storage under window, in analog to the Linux binaries, which uses ~/.micro64 (for example /home/{username}/.micro64) as data and configuratiion path.

  3. I would like to ask the author or someone else what is be the best sound setting for this emu, because I am now not satisfied with the default one ??? Thanks.

    1. There are existing no best settings, because they are very individual, since also every real C64 sounds different. Just experiment with the settings :)

  4. for the author...
Just test it with the PAL LITE emulation turned ON running the "EdgeOfDisgrace_1b.d64" demo from pouet...
on the part where are the rotating objects made from dots - the dots are not visible when the PAL LITE emu is turned ON !!!

    1. This is maybe the one VIC NMOS luminance giltch, which micro64 emulates (but no any other C64 emulator in the moment). This VIC NMOS luminance glitch varies even from real C64 to real C64, from board revision to board revision, etc. Just experiment with the "Luminance ramp", "Luminance rise time" and "Luminance falling time" settings :)
