EmuCR: PCSX2PCSX2 SVN r5341 is compiled. PCSX2 is an open source PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. With the most recent versions, many PS2 games are playable (although speed limitations have made play-to-completion tests for many games impractical), and several games are claimed to have full functionality.

PCSX2 SVN Changelog:
r5341
GSDx: ATI strikes again. Workaround for ATI sampler bug, the same bug I found in palette sampling earlier.

This may make gsdx slightly slower for everyone (I don't know an easy way to restrict this to affected systems), especially if using 8-bit textures.

  1. Drop ATI support. Make everyone get NVIDIA. I'm fedup with ATI graphics bugs in emulators.

  2. Yeah, GSDx suddenly being made slower for everyone just because of one hardware manufacturer is odd, considering that the same plugin left AMD users in the dust when it supported SSE3 and SSE4.1 to make things faster for intel users.

  3. Don't know what the problem is but I still break 100 fps in this revision in some of the most poorly emulated games like Robot Alchemic Drive and Xenosaga 1 with my 2gb 6950 x2 (doubt crossfire is supported). This is under recording software as well, if anything ATI should be given MORE SUPPORT but this is neither the forum nor the time for such talk. :)

  4. If (Detects_ATI) {
    //Buy Nvidia;
    }

    And more support for the failings of ATI's imcompetant driver writers ? I don't think so. If anything, they should drop ATI and focus on Nvidia, then perhaps the ATI-buying morons out there might get off their fat lazy asses and complain to ATI for constant breaking of features.

  5. ATI drivers have a long history of compatibility problems. Sorry, but it's true. Anyone who disagrees is simply ignorant. Comparatively speaking, Nvidia drivers have a much better track record on the compatibility front.

    Regardless of what any person's preference is between the two manufacturers, those are the facts.

  6. Ati? i have a 6850 and it runs every game (kingdom hearts, gow ,dark cloud 2 you name it)at 130 fps and above? XD truly all you who own nvidia gtx 260's or worse can go suck my big black D#@k... buy a graphics card that is more then 100 bucks or go home. Pcsx2 is a perfectly playable platform now. Ati and Nvidia are great, just that Nvidia is expensive for the same thing(and im cheep:). AMD does suck though XD doesnt meen i cant have my i7 and amd graphics?

    1. "Ati and Nvidia are great, just that Nvidia is expensive for the same thing"

      Nope. Not the same thing when it comes to drivers. Not even close, actually. If all you want to play is newer games then ATI is fine, but for emulators and older games Nvidia kicks the crap out of ATI when it comes to overall compatibility. What you pay for with Nvidia is better compatibility and it's worth every penny in my opinion.

  7. does onboard intel still have good speeds in this svn? got constant 60-70fps on earlier ones,but would this one help intel at all or stick with one before this till another svn is out?

  8. Sorry but Nvidia's driver team is no better considering they released drivers that literally fried cards and will never live that down.

    1. Nvidia makes mistakes, but they're still way ahead of ATI on overall compatiblity and have been for the better part of the last 10 years.

  9. When it comes to compatibility, your statement is false. Fanboy-ism has nothing to do with it. The long history of problems with ATI drivers and is not fiction.
