DOSBox-X Git (2026/03/14) is compiled. DOSBox-x is a branch of DOSBox. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, etc., necessary for running many old MS-DOS games that simply cannot be run on modern PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and FreeBSD.
DOSBox-X Changelog:
* SDL1: Use XDG_SESSION_TYPE environment variable to detect X11 or Wayland desktop, and if detected, prevent the fbcon and svga drivers from initializing
* INT 21h memory resize: Do not assign MCB block ownership to the calling application if there is insufficient memory to satisfy the request. Prior to this commit, California Games II would make a call to INT 21h to resize a memory block to something like E934h paragrpahs (a bug in the game?), and despite returning an error, INT 21h would assign ownership to the first free block available anyway. Later the game would not have enough memory for another allocation after helicopter takeoff, and the game would error out.
