DOSBox-X Git (2026/07/24) is compiled. DOSBox-x is a branch of DOSBox. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, etc., necessary for running many old MS-DOS games that simply cannot be run on modern PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and FreeBSD.
DOSBox-X Changelog:
* FAT driver: remove call to zeroOutCluster() from appendCluster(). MS-DOS does not zero out clusters when extending the allocation chain for files. The dirent handling already calls zeroOutCluster.
* FAT driver: Remove file_ccm cache reset when calling appendCluster() in Write. Write explanatory comments, including a note that appendCluster() is very inefficient because it re-reads the entire FAT allocation chain for EVERY call
* Remove ccm reset for flush
