XaviXEmu v0.3.0-alpha is released. XaviXEmu is an experimental, open-source Windows emulator for selected XaviX, XaviX 2000, and XaviX 2 television games. The project focuses on documented hardware behaviour, motion-input emulation, reproducible tests, and preservation of research for systems whose original optical accessories are difficult to use on modern displays.
Features:
Native Win32 front end with Traditional Chinese and English interfaces.
Nearest-neighbour output, window scaling, maximized mode, optional 4:3 presentation, and borderless fullscreen.
Mouse-driven virtual optical input for sword, boxing, and motion profiles, plus early wireless-controller and TV-PC keyboard models.
24C02, 24C04, 24C08, and 24C16 EEPROM models.
Per-game EEPROM and runtime-state files for supported original XaviX and XaviX 2000 profiles.
PNG screenshots generated locally by the user.
Strict ROM size, CRC32, and SHA-1 verification.
ROM-independent automated CPU, video, audio, peripheral, persistence, screenshot, and state tests.
XaviXEmu Changelog:
XaviXEmu v0.3.0-alpha is the third public alpha release of this experimental
emulator.
Compatibility
drgqst, ban_onep, ban_omt, ttv_lotr, ttv_sw, and ttv_swj
remain Playable based on reproduced milestones and direct maintainer
gameplay testing.
epo_hamd is newly Experimental. It reaches its animated title and activity
menu, with decoded left/right wireless-controller shakes and a separate menu
confirmation input. Shake intensity and a complete play-through remain
unverified.
tvpc_dor is newly Experimental. It reaches the title and main menu and has
verified mouse, cursor-key, 24C16 EEPROM, runtime-state, and take-copter
flight input. Most keyboard keys and later programs remain unverified.
ban_naru remains Experimental. XaviX 2 CPU, graphics, sound, gestures, and
persistence remain incomplete.
Highlights
Adds strict two-chip ROM assembly and finite wireless bell-controller pulses
for epo_hamd.
Adds a TV-PC keyboard matrix, cumulative mouse counters, 24C16 EEPROM, and
per-game persistence for tvpc_dor.
Prevents ordinary mouse movement in US ttv_sw from becoming a held defense
while preserving left-mouse defense and the Space-key lightsaber spin.
Keeps compatibility and control documentation aligned with the verified
milestones and known limitations.
Important limitations
Optical, motion, and wireless input use synthetic models based on observed
firmware behaviour. They are not cycle-accurate models of the original
accessories.
XaviXEmu is Windows-only and does not claim complete XaviX compatibility.
Users must provide their own lawfully obtained ROM ZIP whose size, CRC32,
and SHA-1 exactly match the metadata documented by the project.
No ROM, BIOS, firmware, save data, screenshot, official artwork, or
application icon is included.
This Windows build is not digitally signed. Windows may display a reputation
warning for a newly downloaded executable.
The accompanying .sha256 file contains the SHA-256 checksum for the Windows
ZIP.
