Nextendo v1.8.0 is released. Nextendo is a fork of the open-source Ryujinx Nintendo Switch emulator. On top of Ryujinx's excellent accuracy and performance, Nextendo adds a first-class, built-in client for the Nextendo Network — a community-run replacement for the official online service — so supported games can be played online again without any manual configuration, custom hosts file, or SSL bypass on the user's part. The emulation core (CPU, GPU, audio, input, filesystem) is unchanged from upstream Ryujinx. Nextendo's additions are limited to the networking layer and the surrounding user experience.

A home screen, not a file list
Nextendo opens on a launcher built the way a console does: your games as covers, side by
side, with a row of round buttons underneath for your profile, Discord, the news, the Mii
editor, the controller setup and the settings. Each cover carries a small badge showing how
many people are online in that game right now, so you can see where the players are before
you launch anything.
The classic list and the cover grid are both still there, and the three buttons at the top
left switch between them at any time.
The view you open on is yours
The launcher used to reopen on the carousel every single time, whatever you had picked
before — the choice simply did not survive closing the emulator. It does now, and there is
a proper setting for it in Settings → Nextendo Network: home, list or grid. The toolbar
buttons and the setting write the same value, so the two can never disagree about what you
will actually get.
Your Nextendo profile, inside the emulator
The profile button opens your card — your name, your friend code, your picture — with three
tabs behind it: your friends and what they are playing right now, who you have recently met
online, and your own play history. You can add a friend by code, accept or decline requests,
and report a player without leaving the emulator.
The Mii editor gives you back your game
Closing the Mii editor used to leave the emulator spinning on a black screen at 0 FPS, with
nothing to do but kill the process. It now returns to the launcher the way it should. The
same path covers any applet that closes on its own.

You can set your own background image behind the launcher, from Settings → Interface.
Every screen, in twenty languages
The whole new interface — the profile, the friends list, the activity and history tabs, the
report form, every button and every message — is translated into all twenty languages the
emulator ships with, not just the two or three that usually get there first. Relative times
("yesterday", "3 days ago") are written the way each language actually counts, rather than
translated word for word.
